Hande YL; Joseph Stiglitz – An Agenda for Reforming Economic Theory

Neslin Öz. YL; 13 Bankers by Simon Johnson, James Kwak

Even after the ruinous financial crisis of 2008, America is still beset by the depredations of an oligarchy that is now bigger, more profitable, and more resistant to regulation than ever. Anchored by six megabanks—Bank of America, JPMorgan Chase, Citigroup, Wells Fargo, Goldman Sachs, and Morgan Stanley—which together control assets amounting, astonishingly, to more than 60 percent of the country’s gross domestic product, these financial institutions (now more emphatically “too big to fail”) continue to hold the global economy hostage, threatening yet another financial meltdown with their excessive risk-taking and toxic “business as usual” practices.  the banking system as first and foremost an engine of economic growth.

Neslin Öz. YL; Crisis Economics by Nouriel Roubini

Roubini’s central thesis is that crises are an inherent part of capitalism. The ingredients arealways similar: easy money coupled with financial deregulation, irrational euphoria whichleads to a bubble, followed by the inevitable bust. In some cases, the bubble is driven bygenuine innovation: the railroads, for example, or dotcom fever, which at least leave the worldsome benefit when the wreckage is swept up. The current crisis, however, was not driven byreal world invention, but by the financial variety, which is of dubious value to anyone other than the bonus-laden bankers.

Neslin Öz. YL; The Modern World-System I-II-II I… Immanuel Wallerstein

Immanuel Wallerstein’s highly influential, multi-volume opus, The Modern World-System, is one of this century’s greatest works of social science. An innovative, panoramic reinterpretation of global history, it traces the emergence and development of the modern world from the sixteenth to the twentieth century.  he comprehensive content of this book, I hope, will clarify what I mean by this and how serious it is.

Neslin Öz. YL; The Lost Heart of Asia by Colin Thubron

A land of enormous proportions, countless secrets, and incredible history, Central Asia–the heart of the great Mongol empire of Tamerlane, site of the legendary Silk Route and scene of Stalin’s cruelest deportations–is a remote and fascinating region. Since the collapse of the Soviet Union and the emergence of newly independent republics, Central Asia–containing the magical cities of Bukhara and Samarkand, and terrain as diverse as the Kazakh steppes, the Karakum desert, and the Pamir mountains–has been in a constant state of transition. The Lost Heart of Asia takes readers into the very heart of this little visited, yet increasingly important region, delivering a rare and moving portrayal of a world in the midst of change.

Empathy by Adam Fawer
‘Empathy’ is the science-fiction book which I assume that made most of the people who read it say ‘This is the best book of its kind ever written after the author’s former book-Improbable!’.
People narrated in the book lead separate lives at first and thus, events take place free from each other. Then, the author connects the lives of the characters in such a way that you get shocked by how successful he is in not to make you be aware of the process.
